JOSHUA RIVAS THE JOURNEY MAKES THE MOMENT
I am a Meteorologist with a Bachelor’s degree from Florida State University. I have experience in videography, photography, and animation. Using this website, I hope to bring people on a journey as I capture moments and grow as an artist.
As of March 2022, I am doing professional photography and videography. I use a Fujifilm X-E3 mirrorless camera for photos and Canon EOS C100 for videos. I hope to capture stunning outdoor images as well as capture joyous everyday experiences.
From January 2020 – April 2021, I produced my own nature documentary called “Perfect Beauty.” I was able to visit 143 locations across the Southeast and in Colorado, 101 of those being waterfalls. I continue to learn my Canon C100 to this day and film.
I started my career in television right out of college in May 2015. I was the Weekend Meteorologist and Graphics Coordinator at the Suncoast News Network in Sarasota, Florida. I would begin my transition to learn graphic design and animation a year into my career. Between August 2016 and May 2017, I would go on to obtain my custom Mac Pro and Canon C100.
I moved on in May 2017 to gain professional experience as a Junior Animator at Contender Productions in Tampa, Florida. It was there that I became proficient in Adobe After Effects and learned valuable techniques in animation. I assisted in animations of several commercials for clients such as Pinch-A-Penny, GTE Financial, and Florida Lottery.
In November 2017, I moved to Huntsville, Alabama and became a Graphics Meteorologist at Baron Weather. I remain in Huntsville through 2022 designing weather graphics daily, forecasting weather across the country, handling animations and visual effects for explainers, and overseeing graphic design for briefings and client emails.
